Some food, fudge and gold!

We made it to Wall Drug in Wall, South Dakota. Our mission: to get some food (the continental breakfast at the hotel consisted of your choice of toast with butter or donuts), some fudge and some black hills gold. Now we are back on the road fighting the wind and climbing the mountains. Those of you who know me won't be surprised to hear I am already sporting my new earrings. Next stop: Broadus MT!

Here's the cow Linda!

We have made it to South Dakota! Everyone appears to be riding happily so far. Whitley (the cow) has settled in and likes me much better without the Cruel Girl baseball cap. We will stop at a hotel soon and then unload the animals in Montana. I think we'll miss Whitley. We have grown fond of her. The sunset is amazing and there is no doubt why they call it Big Sky country. We are looking forward to relaxing tonight and hitting the road early in the morning.

2 girls, some sheep & a cow...

Allison and I are on our way to Montana and enjoying the scenery on the way.  Today we picked up 2 Scottish Black Face Sheep at the lovely Liitle Dales farm in Wisconsin.   More pictures to come...

The WIP Hall of Shame!

Wow, I just did an inventory of my WIPs not listed on Ravelry.   It’s bad…and I am not even sure I got them all.

WIP 014

Part of a blanket I started about 2 years ago.   I borrowed the pattern from a friend….I better get to work.

WIP 015

Lovely Cookie A socks…I had the priviledge of test knitting these socks for her upcoming book!  (Can you hear the squee???)  The first sock is done but the second sock hasn’t even been cast on.

WIP 006

I just started this one.  (I know, I know)  But in my defense I was asked to knit it for my LYS and I got some lovely yarn in exchange.

WIP 013

I started these Wisconsin Winter Socks for a friend that seems to have fallen off the face of the earth :(   I will finish them for my son.

WIP 009

Sorry for the terrible picture.   I was knitting this for a local dyer for her booth at Fiber Festivals and found out I was using the wrong size needles.  Oops!   I get to keep this scarf though :)

WIP 007

This is a sweater for me knit out of my hand dyed yarn.

WIP 012

A hat I started for a knit along for The Counting Sheep Farm group on Ravelry…

WIP 010

Yeah, umm,  I don’t like this pattern.    Rip it, rip it, rip it!

WIP 011

An inherited WIP….it is a bag knit out of Crystal Palace Yarns.

WIP 017

And the last one….another inherited WIP :)

Going Batty!

Today I updated the Etsy Store.   Friday night we had quite a scare and I am trying to increase sales enough to support the purchase of a guard dog.   We have had people wandering on our property before and I have even caught someone shining our sheep last year during deer hunting season.  However, this weekend it got a little more serious and my children and I ended up locked in my bedroom waiting for the police to respond to my second 911 call.   The first one was made when someone knocked on our back door at 11:30 pm and then ran away.   No big deal really, but I was home alone so I called just to be safe.   I guess they decided they hadn’t frightened me enough and decided to shake the back door as if they were trying to get it open.   In the end it was just a prank but it made me realize our friendly farm dog wasn’t quite up to the job of running offenders off.

At any rate I have listed quite a few batts today :)    I always enjoy carding these up.  I love how each one is just a bit different, even when you use the same fibers.
