Store update for 8/28

blog1

I am in the process of adding soysilk and a batt or two to the Etsy store.

AFRICANPLAINS

The Farm Store is being updated too!  You will find the full sized African Plains yarn and The Pride soysilk which was in the July Phatfiber box.

One skein of the African Plains yarn is enough to make the October Leaves Fingerless Mitts.

The cake is done!

I am pretty happy with the result considering this was my first try!   :)

I made the animals with fondant and the fence was gum paste.  Next time I will make my own fondant, I was not happy with the taste.

Peaches and Cupcakes Part II

DSC_0973

This morning we spent about 2 hours canning peaches, making peach butter,

and dehydrating peaches!

We made a dent in the peach pile, but only a small dent.

Then the rest of the afternoon I practiced cake decorating.  I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed it!

Since these were practice cakes, they aren’t so pretty but they are still tasty!

Cupcakes! and more…..

This coming Sunday we are celebrating the graduation of our two oldest sons.  (Yep, it’s a bit late but life is busy on the farm!)  I am feeling ambitious and hope to try my hand at cake decorating so today my daughter and I are making cupcakes to practice (oh yeah and the peaches are sitting on the table ready to be canned!).  I would love any tips you have and will take pics of the final product.

This lovely package came in the mail today from the Lucky Charms mini swap on Ravelry :)   It included a lovely sock pattern, a bookmark, buttons, postcards and some yummy yummy tea.

Busy, busy, busy

Life is good but boy does it move at a rapid pace here at the farm!  Today Bubba (the white Cormo) went home to his new family where he will hopefully sire more of these lovely sheep.

He was being shy when I came out with the camera and hid behind Basil.

This little guy here is named Peaches and he is always waiting for me to come out to the back porch so he can get some attention!

Store

I did manage to get an update done at the Farm Store!

And for those who are partial to batts, I added some new ones to the etsy shop.

Merino, Tencel…Yum!

I have been busy dyeing up some beautiful Merino/Tencel fiber.   It is one of my favorite blends to dye because it comes out so silky and shiny!   There’s a new colorway, Poppycock that is pretty mellow with raspberry and melon tones making it the perfect summer colorway.   I have also dyed some braids in existing colorways: Easy on the Eyes, Scallywags and Desert Bloom.

Documents

These lovely braids and more can be found at stores.countingsheepfarm.com.   (Remember don’t add the www. or it will take you to my farm website, not the store.)
